If you are worried about “fitting in,” don’t! The people at Mount Carmel come from all walks of life, and most of us are just “regular folks.”
Time? People start showing up around 10:45am, and worship service starts at 11am on the dot. Pastor Tyler tries to conclude his sermons within an hour, so you should expect for worship services to end around noon.
Program? When you enter the foyer, our weekly bulletin will be on the left. Our greeter will probably hand you one! Inside the bulletin, you will see an outline of our service, hymn numbers, etc.
Bible? Whatever version of the Bible you have is fine. Pastor Tyler reads from an ESV Bible, but church members also use the KJV and the NIV.
What to wear? Ladies typically wear blue or black jeans, dress pants, or casual skirts and dresses. Men typically wear blue jeans or dress pants with golf shirts or button downs. Children wear whatever they are comfortable in!
What about small children? All children are welcome, even babies that may cry and toddlers that may act out! Most of us are parents or grandparents, and we know how kids are. But if you feel more comfortable taking your little one to Children’s Church, you are welcome to do so! Children’s Church is in what we call the Sunday School building; to get there from the foyer, you will need to go up a short flight of stairs and down a hallway. If you can’t find it, just ask. You can take your little one to Children’s Church before worship service begins or at any time during the service.
We also have a rocking chair for nursing mothers, a changing table for dirty diapers, and a “Cry Room” for children who need a little break; all of these are located in the Sunday School building in the Children’s Department.
Children’s Activity Bags and Sticker Sets are also located in the foyer for your child(ren) to use during worship service.
Bathrooms? We have restrooms available right outside the sanctuary in the foyer. If you would like more privacy, you may go up the stairs and into the Sunday School building where you will find additional bathrooms.
Tithe? We understand that this is a subject that makes many newcomers uncomfortable. There are so many ways to tithe: weekly in the offering plate, through direct-pay from your bank, through hitting the “Donate” button on this page, or by giving of your time and services. We all give in different ways and no one is watching to see what you put (or don’t put) in the offering plate.
Mobility issues? While it is true that we have a set of steps that lead down to the foyer doors, there is also a no-step option. If you park in front of the bell tower, you will be able to enter the church without going down any steps. If you need assistance, one of our greeters or ushers will be glad to help you.
Still have questions? That’s okay! You can reach out to our church secretary or our pastor by hitting the “Contact” button above, and we will be glad to answer your questions.
Be assured that our main goal as a church is to serve the Lord through Bible-based teaching and Christian love. We strive to put Christ first. We won’t sweat the small stuff, and we hope you won’t either.
